A new addition

•January 6, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I would like to introduce the newest addition to my Xbox 360 Hardware collection.

ax-pro

Introducing the AX Pro – the most versatile gaming headset in the world.

Finally, a true Surround Sound headset with a microphone that will work with your PS3, Xbox 360, and PC/Mac. For the audio or movie enthusiast, the AX Pro is also compatible with any device that features a digital optical or 3.5mm analog 5.1 outputs.

Built on the successful AX360 Platform, the AX Pro features hardware Dolby Digital decoding and eight independent speakers to deliver true 5.1 surround sound audio. Upgraded speakers have been repositioned to provide crisper sound and more accurate 3D positioning. The vibration feature of the AX360 has been replaced by a new subwoofer that delivers improved low end punch and skull rattling bass. Other advancements include an easy to use illuminated inline controller with a microphone mute switch, independent volume control for game chat, and the ability to custom tailor volume levels.

With the ability to connect the microphone via the Xbox 360 controller port, USB, and analog 3.5mm inputs, the AX Pro is the most versatile headset on the market and the only headset you’ll ever need.

Xbox Customer service goes up a notch!

•June 30, 2008 • Leave a Comment

In regards to an earlier post ” Xbox 360 Elite & Customer Service” It seems Microsoft has corrected their error and has now made it possible for Xbox owners who have repleaced or upgraded their system to re-download their purchased arcade games and Xbox Live content without any problems.

Visit Xbox.com, make sure your new Xbox360 is turned on and signed in to Xbox Live, and in three easy mouse clicks all the licenses from you Live content is transferred to the new Xbox! Leaving you the task of re-downloading any desired content.

Not Xbox, but still…

Okay so this post has nothing to do with Xbox 360. I figure I could get away with it since it is a historical game, we have all played it, and even though it is a huge waste of time, somebody did this anyway. It’s the Super Mario Theme on wine bottles.

Commanders: Attack of the Genos

So I recently got turned on to the Xbox Live Arcade game Commanders: Attack of the Genos. This is a great little turn based strategy with great graphics and hokey music. The online play is pretty sweet with the exception of not knowing the commanders strengths and weakness unless you have played through all 15 missions of the campaign.

For those of you who want to get in and start fighting it out with buddies everything you need to know about the Commanders is located on the Commanders page.

King of Cars

forza2.jpgWhen Forza Motorsport 2 was released I was all over it and played nothing but Forza for months straight. I had got about 50% of the game complete over countless hours before having some problems with my Xbox. With one simple phone call to Xbox support they not only fixed my problem but flashed my hard drive causing me to lose all my saved game files! (I really cant say enough good things about Xbox Support) Needless to say my motivation to start Forza 2 all over again just wasn’t there.

After taking a break and playing some other games (Call of Duty 4) I started to miss a good race every now and then. With a little research I see Forza 3 will not come out until Summer of 2009 at the earliest, so I decided to get back on the horse and start Forza 2 again. Surfing around on eBay I found “ForzaMoney” I knew it was only a matter of time before people figured out a way to make real cash on the Forza Auction. This eBay member provides a great service that seriously helped me pick up some lost cars.

You PayPal over the price of the auction. As of today prices are as follows:

  • $100 Million in game credits: $45.00
  • $50 Million in game credits: $31.50
  • $10 Million in game credits: $9.00
  • $5 Million in game credits: $4.50

Once you win and pay for an auction, you take a unwanted vehicle on Forza and list it in the auction room with a buyout price of your eBay auction, 5, 10, 50, or 100 million. Within 24 hours he comes up and buys your auction and there you have it. He made real cash and you have more than enough game credits to get started. My hats off to this person for a helpful and clever idea. This guy is the King of Cars!

Your Xbox 360 can talk?

•March 24, 2008 • 1 Comment

Did you know your Xbox 360 can run its own blog? I found this site online “360 Voice” Once registered the site communicates with Xbox Live and tracks your progress and activity onto a blog. There are competitions and challenges users can participate in.

It almost sounds like a MySpace type account for your Xbox 360. It’s free to sign up so I gave it a shot. Once your signed up you can send messages to the Xbox user and send a friend request just like if you were on Xbox.com. It says it take two days for your Xbox to wake up and start blogging. My page can be found here. I started a link along the side titled “360 Voices” for anyone else who wants to join and be listed. Leave a comment with a link to your page and I will get it added for you.

Xbox 360 Elite & Customer Service

•March 23, 2008 • 2 Comments

Xbox 360 EliteJust this week I became the proud owner of an Xbox 360 Elite system Thanks in part to my wife and daughter calling it  an early Birthday and Fathers Day gift. My original system was just over a year old and was no longer under warranty. It has been working well but I did not want to take the chance of getting the Red Rings of Death without a warranty. So off to Best Buy I went came back with this sleek black, cooler running, increased hard drive, much quieter, HDMI cable equipped beast of an Xbox 360! With a two year replacement warranty from Best Buy.

After getting all my saved game files transferred off my original Xbox I got it ready to list on eBay. (I need to off set the cost of the Elite system) Once the 360 Elite was hooked up ready to go I was off to the races…or so I thought. It seems when I transferred everything over to the new Xbox I lost certain rights with my Arcade Library.

You see I have the Xbox Live Gold account. My wife who enjoys a casual game (Zuma) here and there has a silver account. So I purchased the arcade games under my account. Apparently when the games were moved from one Xbox to the next it disables any additional users from playing the full version of the game(s).

I contacted Xbox Live support on the telephone and explained my situation. I was told that when an arcade game is downloaded from the Xbox Live Market Place it is encrypted to the gamer tag and the Xbox it is being downloaded to. Not the hard drive but the Xbox. So now only I can play the arcade games in their entirety, but if my wife wants to play them, they need to be re-purchased.

Even though I upgraded to the top of the line Xbox 360, and placed two phone calls to Xbox Live, Microsoft was unwilling to offer any support other than several dozen apologies.

So if you are on the verge of having to get a new Xbox, replace a damaged one, or upgrade to a newer one, beware…you may be losing more than you think.
